Al Mackenzie has been DJ’ing and making music for over 30 years now, having residencies in the early 90s at London’s Brain Club and the legendary Love Ranch, worldwide chart success with his band, D:Ream, in the mid-nineties, then moving to Birmingham where he started his own night “Retroforward” , bringing in stellar guest djs from all over the world.

His ‘band’, Field Of Dreams, have had vinyl releases on Pleasure Unit and their own label with remixes by Andrew Weatherall, Justin Robertson, Pete Herbert and Mind Fair. Their remix of Les Crocodiles’ La Nuit Des Tropiques was championed by Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnson at their popular ALFOS nights and received critical acclaim from all corners. FoD also released an EP on Tici Taci, remixed for Sons Of Slough, Bedford Falls Players, KaaN, Jump and Future Unit, to date, and a new EP, “Keep Rollin’ dropped in the fall of 2023. A solo EP’s, ‘Sail On’, and ‘Hold Your Own’, also came out in 2023, followed by current release, ‘Cosmic Spaghetti’. He has a project with Duncan Gray, label owner of Tici Taci, called Echophlex,

D:Ream also have an album, ‘Do It Anyway’ out now and can be seen playing festivals and venues all over the world. D:Ream did Glastonbury in 2024 for the first time, becoming the surprise hit, with the BBC saying they were one of the highlights of the festival in their report online. They will be touring the UK in 2026.

Expect more D:Ream, more Field Of Dreams and more music from Al over the next few years. He’s showing no signs of stopping just yet
