The Bluebells Announce New Album “This Is… The Bluebells” Out 24 April

The Bluebells are set to release their brand new 16-track album, “This Is… The Bluebells”, this Friday, 24 April 2026 via Last Night From Glasgow.

Available across three vinyl variants - Bluebell Blue, Glade Green and Snowdrop White - as well as CD and digital formats, the album marks a significant new chapter for the band, capturing their unmistakable sound with a renewed energy and collaborative spirit.

Recorded live at Beetroot Studios in Airdrie and co-produced by Stuart MacLeod alongside the band, “This Is… The Bluebells” is the first Bluebells album to feature songs written collaboratively by the full current line-up. The record brings together original members Robert ‘Bobby Bluebell’ Hodgens and brothers David and Ken McCluskey with long-time collaborators Campbell Owens, Douglas MacIntyre and Mick Slaven.

The album follows two lead singles that preview its thematic and sonic range. “No Pasaran!”, released in September 2025, draws inspiration from the anti-fascist movement of the Spanish Civil War while reflecting on the contemporary rise of right-wing ideology. Meanwhile, “A Monochrome Set”, released in January 2026, explores the impact of technology on communication, contrasting a past perceived in black and white with a present defined by colour and immediacy.

Speaking about the record, the band explain that the project was driven by a desire to finally capture the energy of their live performances:
“We had become a finely-tuned unit over the previous 10 years… but we had never really captured the live feel that we had created as a collective at gigs.”

Following the more studio-focused approach of their 2023 release “The Bluebells in the 21st Century”, the band sought a more organic process, writing and recording collaboratively in a live environment. The result is a record that reflects both their musical heritage and their evolution as a group.

With standout performances in recent years including Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom for Celtic Connections and an appearance at Glastonbury Festival 2025, The Bluebells continue to reaffirm their place as one of the UK’s most enduring and distinctive voices in guitar music.

“This Is… The Bluebells” is released this Friday 24 April.
