The Dress Rehearsal releases new single “I Wanna Be There”
Today, The Dress Rehearsal - the musical project of Glasgow songwriter David Milne - releases his brand new single “I Wanna Be There,” the second track to be unveiled from his upcoming album.
The track sees Milne continuing to expand the sonic palette that has made The Dress Rehearsal such a compelling emerging voice in the indie scene. Known for blending classic songwriting with rich melodic arrangements and psychedelic textures, Milne’s music draws on influences ranging from 60s pop to modern psych-indie.
“I Wanna Be There” is an instant earworm - an anthemic slice of psychedelic indie driven by swirling instrumentation and a euphoric, sing-along chorus that lingers long after the first listen. The song captures the heady rush of wanting to be part of something bigger: that magnetic pull toward a moment, a place, or a feeling you can’t quite let go of.
Since emerging as The Dress Rehearsal, Milne has built a reputation for meticulous songwriting and layered production. His work balances timeless pop sensibilities with adventurous arrangements, creating songs that feel both nostalgic and strikingly fresh.
“I Wanna Be There” marks another step forward in that evolution - pushing further into expansive psych-pop territory while maintaining the melodic craft that defines his sound.
With more music from the forthcoming album on the horizon, this latest release offers an exciting glimpse of what’s to come.
“I Wanna Be There” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
