Declan Welsh signs Global Publishing Deal with Notting Hill Music
Notting Hill Music has signed a publishing deal with Scottish songwriter Declan Welsh, singer with Declan Welsh And The Decadent West.
Emerging from East Kilbride, Welsh and the band have played sold-out shows in Europe and major festivals including TRNSMT, Glastonbury and Reeperbahn.
Cheaply Bought, Expensively Sold, the band’s 2019 debut album, earned a place on the Scottish Album of The Year Award shortlist. They have since released a follow-up album and EPs.
Ahead of their third album, they recently dropped new single Feeble, produced by Tony Doogan (Mogwai, Belle and Sebastian, The Jesus And Mary Chain).
Declan Welsh And The Decadent West have amassed more than 16 million total streams, including 4.5 million on their breakout track Absurd.
The band have been championed by BBC Radio 1, where they earned an Introducing Track Of The Week, and prominent playlists such as New Music Friday UK and throughout Europe and South America.
Hardly News, from the second album 2, was recently featured in the 2025 Universal Pictures film Drop.
In the live space, they recently headlined Glasgow’s Tenement Trail Festival at the Barrowland Ballroom, marking their second time topping the bill at the ic venue following their own sold-out headline show in 2022.
Declan Welsh said: “I’m delighted to be able to sign with Notting Hill, and to start releasing and writing as much music as is humanly possible. I’m utterly obsessed with writing songs and being in the studio; and think I’ve gotten pretty good at it. I can’t wait to get to work, and look forward to the opportunities this will open up in co-writing, sync and more!”
Billy Kiltie, director of Notting Hill Music, said: “We’re delighted to be signing Declan Welsh to Notting Hill. I’ve been following Declan’s career for a while now and have always deeply admired his songwriting and the energy of his live performances, including just last week at our Resonate Music Conference. We’re all looking forward to new music in 2026 and assisting Declan as he grows even more in his career.”
